Humboldt Roller Derby was founded in 2007 with a mission is to provide members, fans and volunteers with a competitive, family-friendly sport experience. Roller derby is a full contact sport of that empowers athletes and gives back to the local community.
Humboldt Roller Derby is as a Humboldt County tradition. They are a 100% volunteer run 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization consisting of adult skaters on the team and in-training, junior skaters (17 years old or younger), skating and non-skating officials who are referees and volunteers, plus tons of other volunteers and fans. They welcome self-identified women and girls, transgender and intersex women, and gender non-conforming skaters and athletes, promoting inclusivity to all who wish to be involved with roller derby. They welcome you to try it out, no matter your prior athletic experience. If you live behind the redwood curtain, join them!
Their adult training program consists of two comprehensive 17-week training camps, after which participants who meet the required minimum skills can join the team! Their youth training program also consists of a multi-week training camp with awesome coaches. We welcome athletes who have never played a sport before.
